Troubleshooting Connection Issues: Tips and Router Fixes

Your data travels through multiple network devices before reaching our servers. Each point your data passes through is called a "hop" and connection problems often occur within the first few hops, such as your router or your internet service provider’s (ISP) equipment.

Where possible Phenom suggests the use of a wired internet connection to limit performance issues.

General Tips for Stable Wi-Fi Connections

  • Limit other internet-heavy activities while using our software, such as instant messaging, file sharing, web browsing, video or audio streaming, and Windows updates. These can all impact performance.

  • Ensure your network equipment (router, modem, etc.) is up to date with the latest firmware. You can usually find update instructions in the device’s manual or on the manufacturer's website.

Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Steps

If you are using Wi-Fi and still having issues, try the following:

  1. Check connections: Ensure all network cables are securely plugged in.

  2. Restart your router: A simple reboot often resolves many issues.

  3. Change your Wi-Fi channel: This can reduce interference from nearby networks. The process varies by router, so refer to the manual or the manufacturer's website for detailed instructions.
